About
GAPS stands for Gut And Psychology Syndrome and Gut And Physiology Syndrome.
It is a Nutrition Protocol that has been applied by Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride, MMedSci (Neurology), MMedSci (Nutrition), to help her patients heal, strengthen, detoxify and balance their bodies, in order that the body be facilitated to help itself, as it knows best, through billions of years of evolution. In other words, a deep respect and acknowledgement of the innate Wisdom, The Body has coded into its DNA.
Through this insight and based on her own knowledge of Nutrition, Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride has helped thousand of her patients, from infants to adults, with GAPS conditions: a damaged, imbalanced (micro-biome) digestive system, nutrition deficiencies and toxicity, manifesting as various symptoms, both Psychological and Physiological: Autism, ADHD, Dyspraxia, Dyslexia, Schizophrenia, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, and, overlapping Physiological symptoms such as, Asthma, Constipation, Celiac Disease, Eczema, IBS, Rheumatoid Arthritis and other Auto-immune Conditions, Psoriasis, Scleroderma (a partial list) etc. which are all symptoms of a damaged gut, imbalanced microbiome, nutrition deficiencies and a toxic body.
Seeing the urgent need of reaching out to the millions of people who suffered these avoidable conditions, Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride wrote her first book: Gut And Psychology Syndrome (fondly known as the Yellow Book) and through her book huge numbers of people could understand where their problems lay: The Gut. Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride always quotes Hippocrates (460 – c-370 BC), the founder of modern medicine, “All disease begins in the gut”. This was known thousands of years ago.
However, based on her everyday clinical experience, Dr. Natasha noted that the Symptoms almost always overlapped: Psychology Symptoms were accompanied by Physical symptoms: Syndrome! Both, needed to be acknowledged and addressed, and therefore she wrote her second book, based on further and deeper clinical experience: Gut And Physiology Syndrome (fondly, The Blue Book).
These first two books have helped many people heal themselves through using Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride’s GAPS Nutrition Protocol, from debilitating symptoms, Psychological & Physiological, both.
Why then, would you need A Certified GAPS Coach?
The journey of setting the body’s house in order can be very uncomfortable and challenging. The body’s own healing process can be very uncomfortable, leading to many people quitting on themselves as the body goes through the dance of healing. This dance takes an individual through symptoms that can be very discouraging: die-off symptoms as the gut bacteria start to wage a battle amongst themselves, in order that the good guys win and prevail. Add to that the body’s detoxification symptoms that may make a person feel as though they’ve jumped from the pan into the fire. This, gets people to quit on themselves and snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
Moreover, each individual’s process is unique, and tailoring/adjusting/fine tuning is needed to be provided by a Certified Coach. Each body is unique in itself, as Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride points out and as you yourself may be aware of. Each body has its own quirks and needs.
At GAPS and as Certified Coaches, we, who’ve gone through this up and down, back and forth, high and low process of the body ourselves, taking on healing and detoxification, are trained by Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride and her highly qualified team to hold our client’s hands and being there for them, gently guiding them through the entire process, until their bodies have done their work and they are finally symptom free: back to top health.
A Coach helps implement the GAPS Protocol in spirit and deed, right from the client’s home and kitchen.
Therefore, the need for A Certified GAPS Coach: to see you to Victory & Success in your Health Journey.
